Shore Fertilizers update

I have done some more work to the tanker loading dock at Shore fertilizers.

 

The base and the hut are made from pink foam that has been cut into sheets that are 2mm thick and then scribed with a pencil. I use these sheets for a lot of my projects. I'll start work on the pipes next.



Building silos

I have been doing some trials on the silos that need to be built for Shore Fertilizer in Date City and the acid tanks that have to be built for the phosphate plant at Knights.
The first step was to find the right PVC pipe.

This was after the pre shading.

 

I shot the first coat of light sea grey on with my airbrush.

 

 

And this is what it looked like after the second coat.

 



Here you can see the new silo next to the old mock-up's.

Coal Trestle

 I Saw an article in Model Railroader magazine and thought I’d give it a go.

I drew up the plans in Xtrack-CAD, cut all the wood to size with my balsa strip cutter and stained all the wood with a wash of India.

The next step was to build a jig for the trestle construction.

Final assembly was done on a 1:1 plan printed from Xtrack-CAD

Fertilizer plant at Plant City

I made a very rough mockup to start figuring out that should go where.

The unloading dock was built out of 1mm extruded foam and dowel sticks.

The acid tanks are just two cookie tins left over from X-Mas and will have to do for now.

The main building will be a low profile one and will butt up against the backdrop ( yet to be installed) J

 I have added some siding on it now.

Wildwood Citrus Packing

I made a basic low profile mockup from 1mm extruded foam of Wildwood Citrus Packing.

Fire Shack

I have been playing around with 1mm extruded foam sheets and this was my firs try.

Sawdust Bin

My first atempt at scratch building
